An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is the expert in prescribing the right exercise to prevent and manage a chronic disease, help you recover faster from surgery or injury and help you maintain a healthy lifestyle, no matter what your age. An AEP can assist you especially if you are at high risk of developing, or you have an existing, chronic or complex medical condition or injury such as diabetes or cancer.

An AEP will develop and work with you through tailored exercise programs ensuring precautions are taken with consideration to your specific medical conditions. Other conditions and chronic illnesses that AEP's can work with include cardio-vascular disease or recovery from surgery, obesity and depression, arthritis and osteoporosis.

Your GP may be able to refer you to an AEP under a medical scheme to reduce the cost of your exercise program.
